Tulipa micheliana, Hoog. Bulb ovoid, to about 1 1/2 in. diam., the outer brown coats clothed inside with long buff-colored hairs: scape pubescent, about 1 ft. high: lvs. usually 4, very glaucous, often brown-striped, lanceolate and the upper ones linear-lanceolate, very undulate: fls. single, large, vermilion-scarlet inside and lilac-tinged outside; outer segms. oblong-ovate and cuspidate; inner segms. obovate, mucronate; all segms. with black lanceolate blotches at base.
