Varieties

Thymus citriodorus, properly Thymus x citriodorus (synonym T. fragrantissimus[1], T. serpyllum citratus and T. serpyllum citriodorum[2]) (Citrus Thyme). Also a popular culinary herb, with cultivars selected with aromas of various citrus fruit (lemon thyme, etc.) Cultivars include:

  • Lemon thyme (T. citriodorus[3]—smells of lemons
  • Variegated lemon thyme (T. citriodorus variegata[4])—with bi-colour leaves
  • Orange thyme (T. citriodorus 'Orange'[5])—an unusually low-growing, ground cover thyme that smells like orange
  • Silver thyme (T. citriodorus 'Argenteus'[6])—white/cream variegate
