Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture

Spiraea veitchii, Hemsl. Shrub, to 12 ft., with spreading and arching branches; branchlets puberulous while young, reddish, striped: lvs. oval to oblong, rarely obovate, obtuse, cuneate at the base, entire, finely puberulous beneath and glaucescent, glabrous above, 3/4 – 1 1/2 in. long: corymbs 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 in. across, puberulous: fls. 1/6 in. across, white; calyx puberulous: stamens longer than petals: carpels glabrous, upright. June, July.—Like the two following closely allied species very handsome and hardy as far north as Mass. CH
