Silene stellata, Ait. Starry Campion. Perennial. 2-3 ft. high: sts. erect, branched, pubescent: lvs. in whorls of 4 (the uppermost and lowest sometimes opposite), ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 2-3 in. long: fls. white, nodding, in an open panicle; calyx campanulate, pubescent, inflated; petals laciniately cleft, unappendaged.
