Sassafras tzumu, Hemsl. (Pseudosassafras Tzumu, Lecomte). Tree, to 100 ft.: lvs. similar in shape to those of the preceding species, 4-8 in. long: fls. perfect, smaller, pubescent inside, with 3 staminodes alternating with the 3 glandular stamens; the staminate fls. with rudimentary pistil: otherwise like the preceding species.
