Tall, from carrot-form roots: lower lvs. bitemate or rarely triternate; lfts. ovate or obovate, glabrous, or pubescent beneath: fls. purple or rarely whitish or even yellowish: carpels about 5, spreading or recurved, densely tomentose when young but glabrous at maturity; seeds round, reddish to dark blue and becoming black.
