Monardella villosa, Benth. Soft-pubescent, or the heads and lower face of lvs. villous, or sometimes the whole herbage glabrate, 9-12 in. high: lvs. ovate, all petioled; veins conspicuous, widely spreading. Woods and banks. W. Calif., especially along coast. Farther inland is a form (var. interior, Jeps.) with coarsely toothed lvs. and large heads.
