Lilium maritimum, Kellogg. Bulb rhizomatous: st. 2-5 ft. high: leaves mostly scattered, sometimes partly whorled, linear to narrow-oblanceolate: flowers 1-12, pendulous, bell-shaped. l 1/2 - 2 in. diam., with reflexed segms. of a deep orange-yellow, tipped red and spotted brownish purple; stamens less than 1 in. long, surpassing the style; anthers red. June, early July. Calif., along the seacoast. CH
