Hairy: Lvs. lance-oblong, the pairs united at base about the st., wrinkled, remotely toothed or entire, taper-pointed: heads in dense terminal compound cymes. N. Amer., common in low rich soil.—Stout, slightly rank-smelling plant, 2-3 ft. high, long used in domestic medicine and found in old gardens. Excellent for striking effects, especially in low grounds.
