Dennstaedtia (August Wilhelm Dennstedt, early German botanist). Polypodiaceae. Hardy or greenhouse ferns of wide distribution, often referred to Dicksonia but belonging to a different family from the tree ferns of the latter genus from the antarctic or southern hemisphere. Indusium inferior cup-shaped, open at top and adherent on outer side to a reflexed toothlet: lvs. 2-3-pinnatifid, from erect or creeping rootstocks. Species about 30; of simple cultural requirements.
