Clematis florida, Thunb. (C. japonica, Makino, not Thunb.). A slender plant, climbing 9-12 ft.: lvs. variable, more or less ternate or biternate; lfts. small, ovate-lanceolate: fls. 2-4 in. across, flat when expanded; the 5-6 broad, ovate sepals creamy white, barred with purple beneath; stamens purplish.
