Browallia speciosa is a blue-violet annual flowering plant also called the Amethyst Flower or Bush Violet. It is much used as a garden ornamental.

Browallia speciosa, Hook. Lvs. sometimes opposite, sometimes alternate: fls. much larger than in B. grandiflora, all solitary, axillary; peduncle shorter than the Lvs.; corolla-tube thrice as long as the calyx, and abruptly swollen at the top beneath the limb; limb of 5 ovate, striated, dark purple segms., pale lilac beneath. Columbia. —There are blue-, violet- and white-fld. varieties. Var. major, Hort., has violet fls. 2 in. across. B. giganta, Hort., is a florists' variety, with very deep blue fls. and long-blooming habit.
