Anemone blanda, Schott & Kotschy. St. 4-6 in. high, from a cylindrical rootstock: Lvs. like A. apennina, but harder and smoother, and principal divisions sessile: fls. intense sky-blue, differing from above species in being larger, more finely rayed, styles black-pointed, and sepals smooth on the outside; opens in earliest spring or mild winter weather.
